Introduced in 2018, the Vox Starstream Type 1 Plus Mahogany series offered three updates to the original Starstream Type I guitars from 2016.

Vox replaced the original mango body of the Vox Starstream with one made of mahogany for a deeper, more resonant tone and rich smooth sustain.

Vox also added "Passive Mode" to the Areos-D modelling circuit. It allowed the signal from the pickups to bypass the Areos-D modeling circuit and connect directly to the output jack.

Finally, Vox also announced that the Areos-D sounds had received a "tune-up."

The 2018 MSRP of the Starstream Type I Plus Mahogany guitars was $1199.99 with a street price of $899.99.
