Vox V238 Country Western Guitar

The Vox V238 Country Western guitar was manufactured for Vox by the Italian guitar manufacturer, Eko. The Vox Country Western was essentially a rebadged Eko Ranger 6 guitar, as shown at upper right.

The 1967 Eko Guitar described the Ranger 6 guitar as follows:
"Here is a guitar with everything the folk singer or country musician would want - - plus an astonishing low price. Careful hand craftmanship is consistantly apparent. You can hear, see, and feel the EKO tradition of quality; so highly magnified in these models.

Features: Jumbo, full sized body, tapered to project total sound, with a deep resonant voice. Although the Rangers are designed for the singer, many new features have been incorporated to satisfy the accomplished guitarist; such as adjustable rosewood pinned bridge, low action, hi-speed neck, precision machine heads, removable neck, 20 frets, fully purfled body, Florentine pick guard, double TT-BAR neck reinforcement with internal adjustable rod."

The 1967 Vox catalog described the V238 Country Western guitar as follows:
"Jumbo Western flat top. Adjustable pinned bridge. Rosewood fingerboard. Adjustable reinforced neck."

While not mentioned in the product descriptions for either the Eko Ranger 6 or the Vox Country Western guitars, both featured a "zero fret" for increased sustain.

The 1967 Vox price list indicated that the V238 Vox Country Western guitar retailed for $170. Adjusting the original retail price for almost fifty years of inflation, the MSRP of the V238 Country Western guitar would have been about $1200 today.
