The Sovereign Bass Head

The V117 Sovereign Bass amp head was introduced in 1968 and was rated at 60 watts RMS, 120 watts peak into a 4 ohm load. Two 2N3055 power transistors powered the output amplifier. This 60 watt modular power amp section was also used in the Royal Guardsman amplifier.

On the following web page, the control panel and features of the Sovereign head are explained in detail.

The trapezoid cabinet design of the US Vox Sovereign amp head was influenced by the JMI Vox AC-30SRT. The Sovereign shared this same head cabinet with the Buckingham, Royal Guardsman, Westminster, Super Beatle and Beatle amplifiers.

North Coast Music offers the easiest way to make your Vox Sovereign head look brand new. North Coast now manufactures an exact replacement amp head cabinet to fit the V117 Sovereign amp. Better yet, this cabinet is made of baltic birch plywood with dado lock joints throughout.

All hardware is included - eight one pin corners, six air vents with a Vox logo, Vox and "solid state" name plates, and a Thomas Vox Vox handle with gold end loops. Original style levant grain vinyl with gold string accents and black Vox diamond grill cloth are also standard.

This replacement head cabinet is authorized by and sold under license from Vox.
