Giulietta Guitars by Vox - VGA-3D Guitar - 2018-2021
The first Vox guitars featuring factory installed, battery powered effects were introduced in 1967. Vox Phantom, Teardrop and Marauder guitars produced by JMI in the UK for European distribution featured battery powered internal circuits that offered treble, mid, bass and top boost plus fuzz and repeat percussion. A number of Italian (Eko) made Vox guitars built for US distribution included a treble/bass booster, fuzz, repeat percussion, an E-tuner and a palm actuated wah. Introduced by Vox in 2018, the Giuletta VGA-3D guitar followed this tradition of internally installed effects by incorporating the AREOS-D battery-operated guitar modeling circuit. The AREOS-D modeling circuit was originally designed for the Vox Starstream Type 1 guitars introduced by Vox in 2016.
Although it might appear much larger in the photos above, the Giulietta VGA-3D had a rather compact, 13½" lower bout. It's fully hollow, bound and laminated maple arch-top body was about 3" deep. It featured a 22 fret mahogany set-in neck with a baked Jatoba fretboard and a 24¾" scale length. Transparent blue, transparent black or sunburst finishes were offered. |

The VGA-3D featured a Vox XLM humbucker in the neck position plus six individual saddle mounted piezo pickups in an adjustable Tune-O-Matic style bridge. The output from these pickups could be routed either directly to your guitar amp or through the AREOS-D module to create a variety of modeled sounds.
The control panel for the battery operated AREOS-D modeling citcuitry is shown above. It offered six banks of instruments, each with three variations plus two user banks to store up to six favorites. The factory sound palette includes: single-coil and humbucker pickup models, an electric 12-string model, a variety of acoustic guitar models including small body, large body, nylon string and 12 string instruments, banjo, sitar, resonator guitar and even synth sounds. Reverb and drive effects were also included.
The MSRP was $1349.99 USD. Country of origin: Indonesia. |
