| The Orbiter and it's two smaller brothers, The Galaxie and The Satellite were Thomas' attempt to keep VOX products in front of audiences during the late 1960's when Marshall and Fender were edging VOX products off rock stages. These so-called "VOX Ampliphonic Music Stands" were self contained combination amplifiers and music stands. They were trapezoid in shape in all three dimensions and included a music light and an area to hold sheet music. A built-in A-440 pitch tuner, reverb and vibrato were also included and the later could be switched on by way of a foot pedal. The Satellite included an 8" speaker with 20 watts output and vibrato. The Galaxie was 35 watts with a single 10" speaker, vibrato and reverb. Both the Galaxie and the Satellite were single channel amplifiers. The front of these amplifiers are covered entirely by the usual VOX fret cloth and a rectangular VOX logo in the upper left corner. This logo varied from the usual VOX logo as it had a blue colored plate with "VOX Amplifphonic" inscribed on it along with the usual Thomas VOX logo. |
