Much like the Vox CO2 Deluxe Echo, the VOX CO2 is a "small box" tape loop effects box featuring the exact same electronics in a smaller box. In fact, both the Vox CO2 Deluxe Echo and the VOX CO2 Echo share the same schematics. Commonly referred to as a "tom", this tape echo is sized at 5.25H x 12.25W x 12.25D Closed - 5.25H x 12.25W x 8 7/8 Open. The basic operating principle of tape echoes is to record the original guitar or microphone signal to an endless tape. The echo effect is created by playing that recorded signal back at a slightly delayed time and at a greater or lesser volume level compared to the original. The different effect sounds are created by varying the delay times between the echoes.
