Introduced in September 2014, the Vox amPlug2 series was the second generation of the original Vox amPlug head phone amplifier product line. It included eight models, seven with built-in analog amp modeling and another that was a midi interface for direct recording into a computer. Each came equipped with a swiveling ¼" plug that inserted directly into the input jack of the instrument. The six amPlug2 models designed for guitar included three amp modes, three types of chorus, three delays and three reverbs. The amPlug2 Bass included three amp modes and nine percussion rhythm patterns.
Each amPlug2 offered up to 17 hours of battery life from two AAA alkaline batteries. All models except the amPlug I/O included Gain, Volume and Tone controls, a 3.5mm head phone jack and a 3.5mm input jack for mp3 playback. An "auto off" function powered down an amPlug2 if inactive for more than thirty minutes. Head phones were not included. amPlug2 AC30 - September 2014 - The classic AC-30 "top boost" sound.
amPlug2 Classic Rock - September 2014 - Delivered the sound of the iconic tone of the famous 100 watt UK stack.
amPlug2 Metal - September 2014 - Replicated the high gain tone of a famous US made amp.
amPlug2 Bass - September 2014 - Designed specifically for low frequencies and included nine percussion rhythm patterns.
amPlug2 I/O - January 2015 - A USB audio interface that included a tuner and Jamvox III guitar studio recording software.
amPlug2 Blues - January 2017 - Offered the tone of an overdriven American classic amplifier.
amPlug2 Clean - January 2017 - Simulated the clean "Fullerton" sound.
amPlug2 Lead - January 2017 - Searing, high-gain tone.
amPlug2 Brian May - April 2023 - The classic AC-30 "top boost" sound plus treble booster, chorus, phaser, delay and drum patterns.
