The Beatles initially used their 7120's in the studio on the recordings of "Paperback Writer" and "Rain". The first chance that the public had to see these amplifiers was also in the promotional videos for "Paperback Writer" and "Rain". In early 1966 the Beatles used the VOX 7120's together with Fender Dual Showman amplifiers in the recording of the "Revolver" Album.
The first use of these amplifiers in public concert occurred in June 1966 when the Beatles travelled to Hamburg, Germany for their first concert on their 1966 International Tour where they performed at Bravo Blitz Tournee in Hamburg. The next stop for the Beatles on their World Tour was Japan. The apparent final use of VOX 7120 on a concert stage occurred in the Philippines in July, 1966. During the American portion of the Beatles' 1966 Tour, the Beatles used American made solid-state Super Beatles. When returning to England, The Beatles continued to use their VOX 7120's for recording of the song "Strawberry Fields", and the early songs on the Sgt. Pepper album. |
