After Paul McCartney tired of the psychedelic "Magical Mystery Tour" paint job on his Rickenbacker 4001 bass, he sanded the bass right down to the natural wood below. In the process of sanding the bass, he actually sanded so far as to change the contour of the upper cutaway slightly. The new Rickenbacker 4001C64S (the "S" stands for "sanded") recreates this bass.

The 4001C64S has a "reversed" headstock standard, so that even right handed bass players can have that Beatle look.

The 4001C64S is available only in Mapleglo. Fireglo and Jetglo are not available.
