H500/1 V64 Bass
The H500/1 V64 Beatle Bass is exactly the same as the Hofner H500/1 V63 Beatle bass with a minor exception regarding the neck. The V64 neck has white bindng and with dot position markers, the V63 has does not. The top of the V64 Beatle Bass is laminated German spruce, and the sides and back are made from highly flamed laminated African maple. It is then finished in a deep sunburst topped with a highly lustrous nitro cellulose clear lacquer.
A white perloid pickguard, control panel, and white body molding accent the
sunburst finish.
Two of the venerable "staple" pickups are standard. These are an exact
replication of the pickups used on H500 basses in the early sixties, before
the change to the less desirable bar style pickups of the lates sixties and
onward.
A three piece neck made of maple/beech/maple offers stability and a strikingly handsome appearance. The neck is about 1/8" thinner from the top of the fret board to the rear center of the back radius when compared to the thicker neck of a Hofner Vintage 62 or Cavern Bass. Players accustomed to the feel of the slender neck of a J-Bass will like the feel of the V63 Beatle Bass. Click here to see a comparison table of the V63/V64 versus the V62 Hofner Beatle basses.
Just the like original 1963 H500 basses, individual tuning keys are standard,
a departure from the strip tuners used on earlier models.
The bass comes with Hofner branded flat wound strings made for Hofner by a famous German string manufacturer.
A "Bullet" style Hofner hard shell case is included.
