Regarding the coloration of the finishes on Hofner basses: All Hofner sunburst basses and guitars are hand painted. This hand painting leads to the differences in hue and contrast of each bass. There is no distinction made in the finishing department at Hofner between the finish of a V62 versus a V63 or Club Bass. Any hue and contrast differences come from the painter's hands.
The tops of the basses are all quite similar in grain pattern. The grain pattern of the backs can vary quite a bit from very flamey to moderately flamey.
The color shades you see on your monitor may not reflect the actual hue and contrast of the guitar, as this is affected by how your monitor is adjusted. Our Hofner bass photos are color adjusted on a color corrected computer monitor, but your monitor settings may not necessarily mirror ours.
Before shipment. North Coast Music sets up each bass, adjusting it for proper intonation and action. The truss rods are adjusted for minimum relief.
I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Gary:
For Christmas I received the V62 Beatle Bass that my lovely wife purchased for me at Northcoast. Because you post a full gallery of available instruments, I was able to give my wife a serial number and know I'd be getting exactly what I wanted. The bass surpasses my expectations by a mile. To be honest, I bought the bass more from nostalgia than a thought that it would be a "player." But I'm amazed at the tone this little thing can produce. And the short scale makes it a whiz to play--especially for a P-Bass guy. Last night I grabbed my Beatles Complete Scores, piled a stack of Beatles CDs next to the stereo, and had a great time recreating those lines. That Hofner tone is for real. Thanks for making the shopping experience so easy and for presenting your product online in such a straightforward and informative way. I'll be back to look at guitars somewhere down the road, I'm sure.
