Thanx for building this site.
It's a pity last news is relatively old.
I'm considering a Vox Valvetronic 120 ADT and looking at a beautiful, simple but well built site helps to convince myself I'm deciding for the right gear.
So: when I will make ky decision I hope I can come back here for more!
Best wishes, success and a lot of fun with your site: this is the way internet was meant to be.
Greetz from Holland, Rob. Rob Snelders <Rob@R-Snelders.speedlinq.nl> Vianen, Utrecht Netherlands - Sunday, November 14, 2004 at 04:59:19 (MST) WOW!!!!! I JUST BOUGHT A VALVETRONIX AD60VT. I am an older musician who has bought and tried the Zoom modeling amp, the Fender cyber-amp, and a Crate modeling amp, and thought they all lacked a lot for live performance..I had decided to stick with the basic tube amps Peavey Classic 50 and Fender Hot Rod Deville until I tried YOUR amp. I was literally blown away by this "musical Palette in a box" All the sounds are fabulous.........the manual was sooooo easy to comprehend. ITHINK MY OTHER 12 AMPS WILL EITHER COLLECT DUST OR BE SOLD ON E-BAy!! GOD BLESS YOU GUYS! ROCKIN'JOHN John A. Wow! It only needed a good cleaning of the pots with electronic spray cleaner. It´s all original! What a find! BUT, can anyone tell me how old it is? Can´t find any information on the net... I play my ESP ´57 reissue strat with Seymour Duncan Hot classic pu´s through a 1966 Dynacord tubeamp with a late 60´s Hagström 2x12 cabinet. I figured that people that collect Voxes, might collect other great pieces of vintage gear. I just finished restoring a 1963 Dynacord Eminent. Beautiful piece of gear. I will be using it on tour this year as my primary amp. One thing. Knobs are not the proper ones. I have Marshall knobs there. But as Vox fans, we can say that the knobs from a Marshall are the only good parts. In addition, the Marshall knobs look great on the Dynacord, but, still I would like to find the original ones. So, if anyone out there has them, or can think of a good sorce, please contact me. Thanks all, and take it easy. Being knowledgeable about electronic organs and such I was able to perform quite well on it and got some neat sounds. I used it on the flip side of the Frugal Sound single "All Strung Out", a massive flop. I used it live with the band as well. I was still in possession of it when Vox folded up, and if I had been less honest than I am would proboly still have it. It was a wonderful crazy pice of silliness. Only problem was the guitar sounded like **** because of the thick tape-wound strings. The first one was stolen so I bought another - I think I paid around $150 for both. I drove a Bandmaster cab with 2 12" Altec 417's, and my Rickenbacker 12 string sounded like heaven. Occasionally, I would see a white/blue flash from the head and it would blow a fuse. I went inside and lifted the B+ feed up off the terminal board, away from ground (it was arcing over) and that seemed to help for awhile. Finally the output transformer fried, and I couldn't afford the $200 for a new one, so the shop I left it in sold it. Not only did we have an amazing management team, i.e. steve and richard, who managed to make vox a profitable company for the first time in 10 years, but knowing that the amps I helped to build and develope were being used by some of the most famous names in music. It was a great two years as you could imagine. I was with vox between 90 and 92, during which time we built the AC 30 limited edition, AC 30 top boost and the AC 30 mahogony range, and of course not forgetting the head units and 4x12 cabs. Further I have a VOX AC 30 from the seventies, and a VOX ECHO, long model, which I bought around 1968 or a year later. I'm still playin' Shadows type music, but I don't drag the amps along with me, only at special occasions. I have successfully enough been able to simulate both the amp sound and the echo pattern with my Alesis Quadraverb GT, a small Mackie mixer and JBL Eon speaker system. My instrument is a 65 Strat. Not in the coffee-table books, not listed in any Web site, nobody...just one other example on the whole Net, a beater from some dealer out West. (If I had a job, I woulda bought that one, too, then I'd prob'ly have the only 2 left on Earth ;-). I traded my late-'60s Skylark for it, and this thing kicks the Skylark's ass.) Can ANYBODY tell me ANYTHING about this amp? Here's what I know from just owning the thing: Thomas Organ, solid state, black tolex with the great basketweave front, big blue sign on front that says AMPLIPHONIC SOUND proudly, blue top-mount control panel with 1/4" and 1/8" inputs, bright switch, volume, Voice ("woodwind, brass, and special", it says), 8" speaker covered in some weird vinyl pillow, very loud for its rating (it's darn loud *period* if you're playing alone). SOUND? Let's just say it's a ticket to '65-71 classic-rock bliss and that it will be buried with me when I die (or I'll let my daughter have it). Any additonal info would be greatly appreciated! tim mungenast <mungenast@earthlink.net> - Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 20:53:26 (CDT) Can you help me: I have a very rare six string guitar that I believe is called the Vox Phantom Special - it is not mentioned in any book or catalogue I have seen. It has very complex active electrics, but it is not either the Stereo or Organ guitar. I know it was made in England as it has a zero fret and the truss rod adjustor is on the head stock , and suspect it dates from the early '60. I have had it since 1970 and have only seen two others in London. Can anyone tell me anything about it - it has no serial numbers. Though it is in original showroom condition, I am missing the chrome truss rod cover - do you know where I can get one? I currently have 4 and that's all I use now and forever. I also only use Rickenbacker guitars. The Vox Showroom is the most amazing website I have ever seen. Every possible aspect of Vox has been addressed in its entirety. The wealth of information has just absolutely blown me away. Being able to access all this information as well as the classifieds and fellow Voxofiles is something I couldn't have immagined existed in a million years. Thank you for the time and effort you have put in to making a site that is a constant source of joy not only for me but others as well. Thanks again. Jim Kilmer (I am the RickenVoxer). It was for an AC30 ...... thats it .... it was the amp I'd wished for, it was a combo and had a decent output (for my then bedroom guitar practicing). I was 16 years old at the time and the guy I bought it from seemed to me to be ancient, he was living in a really small house, ( he was probably aged about 24), with his heavily pregnant wife.I still have this amp, it is a non top boost 40 year old beauty, totally original, this amp sounds like nothing I could describe here .... I paid £65 for it ($110?? ish!) But what an absolute bargain, and what a truly lovely amp... When its no longer mine ........ it WILL be someone elses ... and so on .. What is wrong with that company. Also why is it so hard to make a AC30 that is just like the ones from the 60's with the top boost around back and the voltage plug on top. The new ones are ok but they still don't sound like the real thing. The only thing that they did improve on is their guitars and then they discontinue them. I was lucky enough to see the last mark III in the store and it is fine but their policies make no sense to me as far as copying the originals. To this day when I talk about amps or Guitars. I Always tell About what A Great amp it is. I'd definatly get another in a moment. Dennis Dennis Pacheco <u-505@home.com> Rumford, RI USA - Friday, August 31, 2001 at 22:12:47 (CDT) Great site. I am the original owner of a 1965 Vox Berkeley Super Twin Reverb (tube head) and have been using it ever since. The tone is one-of-a-kind and sounds great with Rickenbacker guitars and my 1965 Mosrite of California ventures Model Guitar! I lost the chrome stand years ago and wish I could replace them. I also wish it had more power as 17 watts are hard to hear over Fender or Marshall amps. GO VOX!!! AC30 Top Boost, which was purchased in Frankfurt, Germany in late 66/early 67 for the American band I was playing in at the time, while my father was stationed at Rhein Main Air Base. I recall the price as being 300DM, which translated to about $75 US. The amp is still in excellent condition, and came with the black grill cloth with tri-color (red/white/yellow) diamond stitched pattern on the front. It still has the original speakers and is serial #18747. David Cabana <dacabana@aol.com> Ft. Lauderdale, FL USA - Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at 11:48:50 (CDT) Yor Page is wonderful!! Julio Cesar Afara Idoyaga <doctorxiz@bol.com.br> Curitiba, Paraná Brasil - Saturday, July 21, 2001 at 21:10:37 (CDT) A fantastic internet site with good information. I finally found an 18" Goodmans speaker in a homemade cabinet with two ports in the front. I use an AC 50 on this Cabinet and it gives a very good and warm sound with my double bass. I was very suprised that it produces enough mid tones. Is there somebody who can tell me something about this speaker. Frequence etc. Attached I have here the information from the back of the speaker/ It has a very heavy and strong iron frame.
